Tom Stoppard's "Travesties" at Marin Shakespeare Company

Join fellow Princetonians and Lesley Schisgall Currier '84 for an informal outdoor dinner followed by a performance of Tom Stoppard's Tony-award winning play "Travesties" in the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre in San Rafael.

On Saturday, July 31st, join fellow Princetonians and friends for a special evening at the Marin Shakespeare Company's performance of Tom Stoppard's Travesties, including a pre-show dinner and discussion of the play with Lesley Schisgall Currier '84, Managing Director of the Marin Shakespeare Company.

Dinner and the performance will be at the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre in the Dominican University of California, which is on Grand Avenue in San Rafael. Dinner begins at 6:30; the performance begins at 8 p.m.

Winner of a Tony award for "Best Play," Travesties is Stoppard's dazzling riff on Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, Shakespeare, Joyce's Ulysses, Dada poetry, and early 20th Century politics.  James Joyce, Vladimir Lenin, and Tristan Tzara, the founder of Dada poetry, were all living in Zurich in 1917 during World War I, when Joyce decided to produce The Importance of Being Earnest.  Stoppard's play is highly theatrical and richly entertaining.
During dessert there will be an introduction to the play by the director, Robert Currier, Artistic Director of the Marin Shakespeare Company.
Dinner and the performance are outdoors under the stars, so please dress appropriately.

The discounted price for PCNC members and guests is $60 for adults, and $55 for youth ages 18 and under. The price for non-members is $65.
Your ticket includes reserved seating in a special section and complimentary seat cushions. Beverages are not included with your dinner and can be purchased separately, including beer and wine.
