Local Princeton alumni have been donating to the Princeton Club of Northern California Scholarship Fund since it was established in 1950 to support the education of Northern California undergraduate students at Princeton in need of financial assistance. Thank you to PCNC members who have generously donated. For the academic year 2010-2011, your donations are providing a scholarship for Joseph McMahan '13, a sophmore from Petaluma, CA. Joseph was the Salutorian of his high school, a National Meri Scholarship Finalist, played the alto saxophone in his high school Marching Band, ran cross country and was editor-in-chief of the newspaper.
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations (PPRR) was founded in 2003 by Henry Von Kohorn '66 as an awards program to recognize high school students for outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations. The generous donations of local alumni support the activities of the Bay Area chapter of the PPRR, which is in its fifth year of being offered in the San Francisco Bay Area. The alumni volunteers who serve on the Prize Committee select an Award Winner and Honorable Mentions from an applicant pool of remarkable high school students, and recognize them at an annual ceremony in May. If you are interested in volunteering to help with PPRR activities, please contact the PPRR chair, John Jenkins '97, jjenkins [at] alumni.princeton.edu.
Thank you to alumni who donate in support of Alumni Schools Committee events. The Alumni School Committee alumni volunteers work tirelessly to interview the many promising applicants, and this fund is available to support events such as information sessions and meet and greets for accepted candidates in the Spring.
PCNC gladly accepts donations to support our website, newsletter, events, and volunteer activities. In 2010, in commemoration of 100th year anniversary of the PCNC's founding, the PCNC launched a new partnership with Save the Bay. Donations to PCNC support and give back to our greater community.
