Honoring Veterans with a BBQ at the Clara-Mateo Alliance
Help set-up, cook, grill, serve, take down, and above all, come visit people at the Clara-Mateo Alliance, down in Menlo Park on Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Without resting on our laurels, it is time to start thinking about the annual PCNC Veterans Day Cookout. But before doing that, I want to give a shout out to our PCNC volunteers, and to Catherine Baker and Lowen Cattolico, with whose help we just successfully completed our first annual partnership with Save the Bay, for CA Coastal Cleanup Day, 9/25/10.  We had nearly 40 volunteers show up, including Tom Giles (past Community Service leader), Scott Duncan (my predecessor) and David Lewis '83, the Executive Director of Save the Bay, among others.  To see some fun pictures, check out 'Event Photos' http://www.pcnc.org/images.html?view_album=5  Great job everyone.

Who are we BBQ'ing with? The Clara-Mateo Alliance provides emergency and transitional housing, safe shelter and structured, supportive programs for homeless individuals, couples, and families from San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and the surrounding communities.   We will be hosting a BBQ for this community on Sunday, November 7th. If you have a great salad to toss up, a killer secret sauce for those baked beans, or a creative side dish you would love to share, then we need you! We want to provide a quality, homemade meal for these deserving people.

We will be firing up the grill a bit before noon, thanks to our grillmaster, Scott Sneddens.  We need people to sign up for the early shift 12-2pm, for the later shift 2-4pm and for the whole shebang. Make sure to complete the final portion of the sign up process.
