2011 California Coastal Cleanup Day with Save the Bay

Join fellow Tigers in Oakland as we enjoy the great outdoors and work together to clean up the wonderful San Francisco Bay! Picnic in a nearby park immediately afterwards.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Pitch in and help clean up trash that finds its way to our bay before it ends up in the sea, around the neck (or in the belly of) a wild animal.  This year we will be working with Save the Bay in partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District.

Help "feed two birds with one hand!" by remembering to BYOB!  We’re making this a zero waste event, so bring your own bucket, gloves and whatever tools will help to make your experience even better. This will help us to remove extra trash from the waste stream while we remove trash from the environment!  For every piece of garbage you pick up at the Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline Park, another space opens up for a new seedling to thrive, a baby bird to be born and one more beautiful vista for our community.

Save the Bay will be handing out prizes for the most unusual item found and the best dressed bucket contest!

Then, picnic with fellow Alumni in a local park immediately afterwards. PCNC will provide the main dish, so if you can bring an additional thing to share that would be great!

Carpooling/Pick up from the Coliseum BART station can be arranged, so please also let us know if you need help getting to and from Oakland.

This event is family friendly! Clean-up will be from 9am-12pm, with the picnic following.

Please RSVP to Catherine Baker at ccbaker[at]alumni.princeton.edu
