Volunteer at the SF Foodbank!

Spend some time helping the SF Foodbank and connecting with other Princeton Alumni! Families welcome- children 8 and up.

Join Brooke and Lindsay and other Bay Area Princeton alumni at the San Francisco Food Bank on March 2nd at 9am. The SF Food Bank is located at 900 Pennsylvania Avenue at 23rd Street, in Potrero Hill. Please email Lindsay at Lindsay.Turk@gmail.com if you are interested, have questions or would like to come. Friends and family are very welcome. We'll plan to meet there, however if people are interested in carpooling, we can assist in coordinating rides.

Have more questions? Here's a bit more information about volunteering at the Food Bank:

  • Can children volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 8 years old on Saturdays. Every middle school-aged child and younger must be accompanied by an adult to ensure safety in our busy warehouses.

  • How do volunteers help the Food Bank?

Year-round volunteer support is essential for the Food Bank, helping us quickly and efficiently get food to people in need. Our volunteer community assists with gleaning produce, repacking bulk food items, sorting through food donations, assembling grocery boxes, and many other projects in the warehouse and community. Food Bank volunteers provide work equivalent to 70 full-time employees, a crucial contribution to our fight against hunger.

  • Is there parking available at the Food Bank?

You're welcome to utilize our parking lot, as agencies do not shop at this time. Additional street parking is free and abundant.

  • What should I wear?

Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes to participate in warehouse projects — no sandals, flip-flops or opened-toe shoes. We ask that you dress comfortably and respectfully. A sweatshirt or extra layer is recommended, as the temperature in our warehouse is often quite cool.
