Art's Art!

See the extensive art collection of Arthur Albrecht '48!

Over the last handful of years, Arthur Albrecht ’48 has opened his home at the base of famous Lombard Street to Princeton alums joining PCNC urban walks of Nob Hill and Russian Hill. He’s thrown wonderful receptions at the close of the walks, and anyone lucky enough to stop by has had tantalizing glimpses of Arthur’s amazing art collection. PCNC asked, and he has graciously agreed, to open his collection to a private viewing by Princeton community members!
Arthur has been assembling his remarkable collection for over 50 years, largely from travels as well as from local galleries and other sources. A large portion of his collection is Haitian. He began collecting Haitian art at a time when it was relatively inexpensive and developed an early interest because he had the opportunity to travel to Haiti. He also had contact with a number of people knowledgeable in Haitian art. The work he has collected over the last half-century represents most of the well-recognized artists in the Haitian art world, and consists of several dozen paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, etchings, maps, books, newspaper articles, and photographs.
This is a rare opportunity to view an amazing private collection, guided by the collector. The tour will last approximately 2 hours, with a reception following. Weather permitting, the view of the city from Arthur’s house will be spectacular!
