A. Scott Berg '71 at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco

Come see the noted biographer, journalist, and author of "Lindbergh" and "Wilson" speak on Tuesday, September 17.

One hundred years after his inauguration, Woodrow Wilson remains one of the most influential and enigmatic figures of the 20th century. A lifelong scholar and idealist, the 28th president followed a path from Princeton to the highest office in the land, where he guided the country through World War I. As president, Wilson strove to make the world "safe for democracy," creating the groundwork for what would eventually become the United Nations; but he was more than just a political leader. After more than a decade of in-depth research through the Wilson Archives, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Berg has unearthed Wilson's personal side through diary entries, speeches and letters. The result is the depiction of a proud man who dealt with both war and a debilitating stroke with the same focus and resolve to fulfill his duty, all the while shielding the emotions of his humanity from the public and those around him. An award-winning biographer and Princeton alum, Berg is the author of Lindbergh and Kate Remembered.
