Remember the excitement of watching the Cornell Lacrosse team? Join CAANC at HP Pavilion in San Jose to watch the non-stop, hard-hitting action of professional indoor Lacrosse as the San Jose Stealth take on the Portland Lumberjax. Our tickets are in the lower bowl, only 5 - 8 rows from the glass. As a special offer, tickets are $20 for both CAANC members and other Ivy League alumni. In addition to watching great lacrosse, a portion of the price of each ticket will be donated to the Cornell Athletic Dept. Scholarship Fund in the name of EAMON McENEANEY, Class of 1977. A member of the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame, Eamon was a three-time All-America and was Division I lacrosse MVP in 1977 when he led Cornell to its second consecutive NCAA Lacrosse Championship. A hero during the first bombing of the World Trade Center in New York in the early 1990's, Eamon perished during the attack on 9/11/2001.

On the second Wednesday of each month, the PWN Book Club gathers in a member's home or an area restaurant to eat, chat, and (usually) discuss that month's literary selection. The location changes from month to month so we can be welcoming to alumnae from all over the Bay Area, and books are chosen by consensus with those who show up! Come view these vivid and fascinating images of the Edo period entertainment quarter: beautiful and colorful courtesans, graceful geisha and fabulous actors, painted by some of the era's masters and most recognizable names including Hokusai and Hiroshige. The Asian Art Museum is the sixth and final stop for this world-traveling exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, which owns the world's largest and finest collection of Ukiyo-e (floating world) paintings. For the first time in 100 years, these 80 rare and exquisite paintings are on view to the public. The colors and scenes are simply amazing!

This docent-led tour is private, and starts at 9:30 am before the museum opens at 10:00 am. Participation is limited to 20, so please RSVP in advance to secure your spot. The tour will last about one hour, and interested attendees can gather in the Museum's Cafe Asia after the tour to talk about the exhibition. The tour is open to Princeton friends and family.

Please be warned ahead of time: as this tour starts before the Museum opens, you will need to arrive at the Museum at 9:15. Once the group enters the Museum, you will not be able to enter until the Museum opens at 10:00 am for the general public. The early start time is worth it: during the first half of the tour, we will most likely have the exhibition to ourselves, with the exclusive attention of one of the Museum's highly knowledgeable docents.

PCNC is excited to welcome Princeton Professor Peter Singer to the Bay Area. He will speak to a PCNC audience on "Global Poverty: What are our Obligations?" Further details, including location and pricing, will be available closer to the event.

Peter Singer was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1946, and educated at the University of Melbourne and the University of Oxford. He has taught at the University of Oxford, La Trobe University and Monash University, and has held several other visiting appointments. Since 1999 he has been Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics in the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. From 2005 on, he has also held the part-time position of Laureate Professor at the University of Melbourne, in the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics.

Peter Singer first became well-known internationally after the publication of Animal Liberation. Peter Singer was the founding President of the International Association of Bioethics, and with Helga Kuhse, founding co-editor of the journal Bioethics. Outside academic life, is the co-founder, and President, of The Great Ape Project, an international effort to obtain basic rights for chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans. He is also President of Animal Rights International.

Peter Singer is married, with three daughters. His recreations, apart from reading and writing, include hiking and surfing.

I have been observing this process since Kennedy ran against Nixon. People figure out who they want. Then they say what they want to see in our next president. It always matches the guy they want.
