| Gather to discuss books with local alumnae
On the second Wednesday of each month, the PWN Book Club gathers in a member's home or an area restaurant to eat, chat, and (usually) discuss that month's literary selection. The location changes from month to month so we can be welcoming to alumnae from all over the Bay Area, and books are chosen by consensus with those who show up! Recent selections have included both fiction and non-fiction, modern and classic, from "Anna Karenina" to "Under the Banner of Heaven", "The Bookseller of Kabul", and "Tales of the City". New participants are welcome all the time. Please RSVP to Amanda Whitehead to be included on the Evite for upcoming meetings with details for each month's book selection and meeting location.

| Princeton alums are invited to a night at the theatre with discounted tickets and a post-show discussion
Princeton alums & friends are invited to a night at the theatre on Friday, October 10th. Princetonians will enjoy discounted tickets and a post-show discussion with the writers, director, and cast of Precarious Theatre's latest creation: "I'm Yours! or, Deranged by Love."
Inspired by an episode from Cervantes' classic novel Don Quixote, the play follows the ecstasy and agony of two pairs of young lovers in 17th century Spain. The couples, finding their desires thwarted by fate, friends and family, set out on a chaotic adventure into the Spanish wilderness, where a tangled web of desires, mistaken identity, hilarious antics and revenge puts true love to the ultimate test. The six-actor ensemble brings the story to life through their own acting, original songs and fantastical puppets.
For more information about attending on October 10th and to RSVP, contact Erin Carter at escarter@alumni.princeton.edu. For general information, visit www.precarioustheatre.com.

It is that time of the year again! The Princeton Club of Northern California hosts its 7th Annual Fleet Week Cruise on San Francisco Bay on Sunday, October 12th.
Sign up for the best seats in town for the legendary Blue Angels Air Show for Fleet Week, one of San Francisco's favorite annual events. This event will be limited to 149 people.

We will depart from Pier 40 near AT&T Park and take in San Francisco Bay's most beloved sights: AT&T Park, Pier 39, Fisherman Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Alcatraz, the bridges and maybe even some sea lions and harbor seals. There will be ample indoor and outdoor seating from which to enjoy the views. More importantly, join fellow Princetonians in watching the Navy's elite flying squad--the Blue Angelsly overhead.
The yacht will begin boarding at 1:15 pm at South Beach Harbor near AT&T Park in San Francisco and will depart promptly at 1:30 pm. The yacht will return and dock at 4:30 pm.

Dan Sullivan '63 |
| Russian Classic by St Petersburg's Kirov Ballet
The Kirov Ballet and Orchestra of St. Petersburg come to Berkeley to perform "Don Quixote," the most famous comic ballet of the 19th-century Russian repertory.
In this tale, the confused but well-intentioned Don helps an innkeeper's daughter marry the young barber she loves, foiling her father's plan to marry her to a foppish nobleman. It culminates in a grand and colorful wedding celebration for the village, before the Don and Sancho Panza bid farewell to continue on their adventures.
The Kirov Ballet is one of the world's leading artistic institutions, maintaining the legacy of classical Russian ballet since its founding in 1783. It will perform in Berkeley with its own full orchestra.
Join Dan Sullivan '63 and Kasia Allen *02 for a Sunday matinee, with an optional post-performance supper at a nearby Berkeley restaurant. This event was first announced in the July PCNC newsletter, but we may still have a few tickets left.
Send your reservation by e-mail to dansullivan63@earthlink.net, and confirm it immediately with a check payable to PCNC. PCNC members may bring one guest at the member price.

San Francisco |
Michele Bateman '97 |
| Enjoy a night of funk and soul with the legendary Maceo Parker at Herbst Theatre
Join Michele Bateman '97 for an amazing evening of entertainment with saxophone great, Maceo Parker. Always a formidable improviser, alto saxophonist Maceo Parker was baptized by the two supreme prophets of funk, James Brown and George Clinton. After a quarter century of collaborating with the two soul visionaries he started spreading the gospel of groove in the late 1980s with his own blazing band, made up mostly of alumni from Brown's disciplined R&B academy and Clinton's free-flowing funk seminars. A consummate entertainer, Parker turns every performance into a uproarious party. This will be the second collaboration between PCNC and SFJazz, and we are hoping to engage new and old participants alike!
"His signature style helped define James Brown's brand of funk."
- NPR
We will dine pre-show at a nearby restaurant at 5pm sharp, and then walk over to Herbst Theatre, so please RSVP if you would like to join us for dinner and the show, or just the show.
We have only 16 tickets for our PCNC group, so send your reservation by email as soon as possible, and mail your check, payable to PCNC, by October 10th. PCNC members may bring one guest at the member price. Dinner cost is not included in this price.
