PCNC Dining Club 6/10 7:30pm SF Melissa Doff

Want to make new friends while enjoying a great meal? Or maybe you've been hoping to try a particular restaurant but never got around to gathering your friends together.

Join other PCNC members who share your interest in food and wine. Uncomplicated and easy to join, you simply need to RSVP and show-up.

Together with other Princetonians (and invited friends), you'll dine family-style while sharing an evening of delicious food, taste-worthy wines, cozy ambiance, and wonderful conversation.

Melissa Doff '84 will coordinate our evenings for us, as we launch our first quarterly (for now!) event.

Please join us at our first dinner on Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. Dinner will be held at Alegrias, Food from Spain, 2018 Lombard St. (@Webster St.), San Francisco. Parking is available at the garage across the street on Lombard.

The estimated cost will be $25 to $35 per person. To RSVP, please call Melissa at (415) 221-4456 no later than Monday, June 7, 1999.

Telethons Various     Leslie & Matt Peters

The Final Phone-a-thons are:

(1) Thursday, June 3rd at Excite at 555 Broadway in Redwood City.

(2) Monday, June 14th at the offices of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal at 685 Market St. 6th floor in downtown SF (note that this is a new location, thanks to the generosity of one of the parents of '01!)

Both phone-a-thons will be from 6-9pm, and dinner will be provided. Please RSVP (e-mail or 650-638-1920) whether you can or cannot attend so that we can get accurate figures for dinner and for security purposes at the event locations. As always, please feel free to invite other interested alumns to join us!

SWAT TEAM

In the last two weeks of the campaign, we are looking for volunteers to be on our "Swat team" to make calls from home to a specified list of alumni. If you are interested in participating, please let us know how many people you would be willing to call, and the university will fax or mail you a list of names on or around June 15. This approach has been used in other regions with great success, increasing participation several percentage points in the last 2 weeks!

PWN: How to Craft Wickedly Effective Prose June 26 2-4pm UC Berkeley Laurie Kaye '96

Saturday, June 26: 2:00 - 4:00 pm

PWN Speaker Series "Sin and Syntax: How to Craft Wickedly Effective Prose"

Speaker Connie Hale '80

Based on Connie's new book. In the age of "Got milk" and email that resembles telegrams, should you kiss standard written English goodbye? Is the Internet changing the way we think and write?

Connie will take us on an idiosyncratic tour of language and literature. Copies of her fun, slightly subversive guide to writing will be available. Location: UC Berkeley School of Journalism Library, located just above the North Gate to the campus, at the intersection of Hearst and Euclid. It is also known as North Gate Hall.

To get to the Library, enter just off North Gate, go up the stairs, turn right and go all the way down the hall. Refreshements will be served. No fee for the event.

RSVP: Laurie Kaye '96 (laurie@healtheon.com) or 408-876-5393
