| IPO's
for the New Millenium
J.D. Delafield
'89, a partner at W.R. Hambrecht & Co., will discuss his firm's innovative
new approach to raising capital for emerging growth companies. The firm's
auction style Open IPO process has the potential to fundamentally change
the way equity offerings are conducted. J.D. will discuss the benefits
to companies and shareholders of this approach, and the market reaction
to the firm's initial efforts.
Before W.R. Hambrecht
& Co., J.D. worked for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in both Mergers &
Acquisitions and Corporate Finance. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he spent
four years in Beijing working as the chief representative for Coca-Cola's
operations in Northern China. J.D. graduated from Princeton with a BA
in East Asian Studies and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
The lunch will
be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 1999 at the offices of Wilson Sonsini
Goodrich & Rosati, 975 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto. (NOTE: This is a different
building from where the Silicon Valley Lunches have been held before).
975 Page Mill is
half a block west of El Camino Real on the south side of the road. The
building complex is shared with Genencor; the luncheon is in the building
closest to Page Mill Road.
The cost of the
lunch is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Please send checks
(payable to PCNC) to Peter Heinecke, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati,
650 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto, CA 94304 or RSVP to pheinecke@wsgr.com.
As space is limited,
please RSVP before attending.

Better Safe
Than Sorry: Learn CPR & First-Aid
Now a popular
annual event, it's once again time for CPR and First-Aid Training with
other PCNC members. Safety Training Seminars (STS) has been providing
classes throughout the Bay Area for over eight years, utilizing instructors
certified by the American Heart Association to teach CPR and by the
Emergency Medical Services Authority for First-Aid.
While some of us
are first-time learners, others simply need to renew. All that you need
to do is:
1. Pick the training
that you want to attend. (You can even combine the Saturday CPR and
First-Aid Classes for a really intense day!)
2. Pick the day(s)
that works best for you
3. Call Melissa
Doff '84 at (415) 221-4456 to reserve your spot.
4. Arrive at your
scheduled class 15 minutes early to pay the fee.
Heartsaver CPR
- Cost is $30 per person.
Learn CPR, rescue
breathing and chokesaving for all age groups. This class is appropriate
for parents, baby sitters, and everyone in general.

First-Aid - Cost
is $30 per person. Learn what to do when life threatening emergencies
strike, such as bleeding control, burns, shock, poisoning, hot/cold
extremes, fractures, and seizures. Students receive a First-Aid manual,
First-Aid card (valid three years), and other course handouts.
