| Shakespeare's
"Tempest" in Orinda
We have reserved
20 tickets for the California Shakespeare Festival's presentation of
"The Tempest" on Sunday, September 26, 1999 at the Bruns Amphitheatre,
a wonderful setting in the hills above Orinda. (There is a free shuttle
from the Orinda BART station.)
The performance
begins at 4 p.m., but we'll meet at 3:00 p.m. for light snacks in one
of the picnic groves on the theater grounds. The California Shakespeare
Festival productions take an imaginative approach, staying true to the
spirit of Shakespeare's plays while making them accessible for a contemporary
audience.
In "The Tempest",
the wise magician Prospero conjures up a storm that causes a shipwreck,
thrusting the ship's passengers onto his remote island. Shipwrecked
passengers are lead through a maze of conflicts until the revels end
in gentle harmony and reconciliation.
Tickets are $35,
and advance purchase is required. Send your check (made out to PCNC)
to Dan Sullivan '63, 359 Church Street, San Francisco, CA 94114.
Include your address
and telephone number to receive your tickets and other information about
the event. The deadline is September 1, but this event is likely to
sell out, so don't wait.
