2nd Annual Wine & Bocce!
Join fellow PCNC members during the completion of the harvest season
in wine country. After a successful wine tasting and bocce event last
October, PCNC will head up to the Sonoma Valley again this year.
First, we will have a private tour and tasting of the top notch varietals
at Arrowood Winery, and then drive up the valley to try the award-winning
Chardonnays at Landmark Vineyards. After a private tour and tasting
at Landmark, we will enjoy a catered picnic lunch and play Bocce.
The perfect combination of good wine, good food, and healthy competition!
Please plan to meet at Arrowood at 10:30 am. We will drive to Landmark
around 12 noon. The fee is $25 for members and guests, and $30 for non-members
and guests. Please RSVP by Tuesday, October 5 by sending your check

Sculptor and painter David Chamberlain '71 is a full-time professional
artist living near Boston, MA. He has created over 1,000 original artworks,
many of which (over 200) appear in the permanent collections of art
museums and institutions around the world. Known as a contemporary abstract
artist, Chamberlain's work is based on musical patterns and relationships.
He has invented a new technique of painting (The "ChamberlainMethod"
- oil painting on glass transferred to paper, without using brushes)
and a new approach for painting ("Duet Painting" - wherein he uses the
aforementioned method to work collaboratively with another artist on
the same painting at the same time - like a jazz duet or a dance pas-de-deux).
The result is a unique blend of individual backgrounds and cultures.
This evening, he will offer PCNC members a preview of newly created
duet paintings with Japanese artists Yuji Kishimoto and Emi Tajima.
Emi is the youngest master-level caligrapher in Japan, and will be in
attendance with him for our event. This is a rare opportunity to meet
the artists personally, and for a first-hand look at art history in
the making.
This event will be held at Memory House Antiques, courtesy of James
Lee '86, 60 East 3rd Ave, San Mateo. Please RSVP by Friday, October
8, 1999 to the Princeton phoneline (415) 674-8477.

View from the Podium
On Tuesday, October 19, 1999, President Clinton's former Press Secretary
will join the Princeton Club for an engaging luncheon talk. Don't miss
this opportunity to hear Michael D. McCurry '76 discuss the lessons
he learned at the White House, and particularly the way governments
communicate in the era of a 24-hour news cycle and information age.
Attendees will have an opportunity to ask a lot of questions, and lunch
will be provided.
Mr. McCurry is President of the Public Strategies Group, LLC, a Washington,
D.C. based public affairs and strategic communications consulting firm.
Mr. McCurry served in the Clinton White House as Assistant to the President
and Press Secretary from January 1995 until his departure in October
1998. Prior to joining the White House staff, Mr. McCurry distinguished
himself in a number of high profile political positions.
Please RSVP by calling the PCNC phoneline (415) 674-8477 by October
15, 1999. The luncheon will last from 1:00 noon to 2:30 pm, and the
cost for lunch is $10 for members and their guests, and $15 for non-members.
Courtesy of Dan Sullivan '69, the Sierra Club National Headquarters
will host the luncheon at 85 2nd St. (at Mission St.), Yosemite Room,
3rd floor, in San Francisco. The Sierra Club is one block south of the
