Georgia O'Keeffe:
The Poetry of Things is the first exhibition to focus entirely on the
artist's paintings of objects. This exhibition of 53 works spans the
period from 1908 to 1963, and explores O'Keeffe's emotional, spiritual,
and aesthetic relationships with the objects she chose to paint. In
1915 O'Keeffe divided her work into two categories: "landscapes" and
"things." O'Keeffe's "things" have a decidedly organic nature and veer
towards the abstract rather than the representational. Flowers, leaves,
bones, shells, and fruit are among the objects explored by the artist
in these works.
Join fellow Princetonians
on the exhibit tour, which will last about one hour and will be lead
by a museum docent. The cost for members varies, because if an alumnus
is a member of the Fine Arts Museums, then the cost is $5. The general
adult admission fee is $16, and the senior citizen (65+) rate is $14.
Please RSVP by sending a check, made out to "PCNC", to Christina Cragholm
'97 by Februrary 21, 2000.
We will meet in
the Legion courtyard and enter the museum as a group, so please don't
be late!

5-mile loop
hike in Sunol Regional Wilderness
Sunol Regional
Wilderness is one of the gems of the East Bay Regional Park system.
This five-mile loop hike goes past many of its most striking spots,
including a boulder-strewn gorge called "Little Yosemite" because of
its cliffs and rock formations. Meet at the Sunol Wilderness Visitor
Center at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18. To get there, take I-680
to the Calaveras Road exit between Fremont and Pleasanton. Go south
on Calaveras Road about 4 miles, turn left onto Geary Road, and follow
Geary about two miles to the visitor center.
Rain postpones
the hike to Saturday, March 25. Call Dan Sullivan at 415-626-8153 if
you're in doubt about whether it's postponed.
