In light of the recent
tragedies and the cancellation of San Francisco Fleet Week, PCNC has
decided it would be most appropriate to postpone our Members Appreciation
Hornblower Cruise Event. We hope that you understand and you and your
loved ones are well during this difficult time. We have rescheduled
this event for the Blue Angels air show in October 2002. Watch the July
Newsletter for details.
Watch the Blue
Angels from the decks of the Empress Hornblower
Join fellow tigers
for an afternoon on the San Francisco Bay with an exceptional view of
Fleet Week festivities and the Blue Angels Air Show. PCNC is pleased
to sponsor this special event in recognition of the support of its members.
The Empress Hornblower is reminiscent of a turn of the century Paddle
Wheel Riverboat with an elegant mahogany and shining brass interior.
This three-hour cruise will include a reception of gourmet hor d'oeuvres
and a premium beer and wine bar. Specialties such as goat cheese & sundried
tomato tartlettes, ahi tartare on cucumber rounds, and chicken satay
will be served on Princeton Club's private deck. There will be ample
indoor and outdoor seating and multiple decks from which to enjoy the
best views. Wear your orange and black for the festivities.
Thank you for being a part of the Princeton Club of Northern California!

| Professor Deffeyes to Discuss the Potential for a Major
Energy Crisis in the future
Princeton Professor
Ken Deffeyes will discuss the possibility that the world will experience
a major energy crisis in upcoming decades. In his new book "Hubbert's
Peak" (to be published in October), Professor Deffeyes asserts that
global oil production will probably reach a peak sometime during this
decade. After this peak, the world's production of crude oil will fall;
never to rise again. The world will not run out of energy, but developing
energy sources on a large scale will take at least ten years, and the
possibility of a major crisis exists.
Professor Deffeyes grew up in the oilfields. After graduating from the
Colorado School of Mines, he worked for Shell Oil, served in the Army
at the Presidio, and earned a Ph.D. degree from Princeton. Professor
Deffeyes joined the Princeton faculty in 1967; many students remember
his "Rocks for Jocks" course. Others know about him from John McPhee's
books on geology. While teaching at Princeton, Professor Deffeyes has
consulted on oil and gas drilling programs and has been an expert witness
in oil litigation.
Come and meet other local alumni and enjoy a lively talk and discussion
over lunch. Luncheon reservations are required at least 24 hours in
advance; to reserve, contact .
