| PCNC Member Appreciation Event
Watch the Blue Angels
SOAR as you sail through the Bay!
Princeton Club members will have the best seats in town for the Blue Angels Air
Show, one of San Francisco’s favorite annual events. The Celebrations Commodore
yacht will be filled with orange and black as Princetonians enjoy a 3 hour
cruise featuring gourmet hors d’oeuvres, great company, and a cash bar. We’ll
depart from Pier 40 and take in San Francisco Bay’s most beloved sights: Pac
Bell Park, Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Alcatraz, the bridges
and maybe even some sea lions and harbor seals. There will be ample indoor and
outdoor seating from which to enjoy the views. Wear your orange and black for
the festivities!
Because this special event has been partially underwritten by PCNC, it is open
to members only. (If you are not a member, you may join by going to
www.pcnc.org and clicking on the new member tab in the top left corner.)

| Bike Trip in West Marin |

Katharine Strunk, Brian Strunk and

| Bike Ride in West Marin - two options: a 20 mile ride with
rolling hills or a 35 mile ride with a few climbs. Both will have beautiful
scenery.
An RSVP is not required,
but would be helpful for us to plan the rides. We will offer two riding options
if there is interest in both: one will be approximately 20 miles, looping
through West Marin forests and country sides. The other ride will be a more
difficult, 35 mile ride, and will offer spectacular views of West Marin country
side, a resevoir and will take riders along Route 1 near Pt. Reyes. Any fit
rider with a road bike will enjoy the 35-mile loop, and riders on road bikes,
hybrid bikes, or mountain bikes can do the 20 mile loop (however, road bikes are
preferred.) Please bring plenty of water, layers, sunglasses, and at one or two
sports bars (like a cliff bar or a luna bar). We will meet at the Nicasio Ranch
in Nicasio. We will send out directions at a later date.

| Park Cleanup at National AIDS Memorial Grove |

| Volunteer Workday
Spend a morning
gardening at the National AIDS Memorial Grove and celebrating the lives of those
lost to AIDS.
Registration and sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m and coffee and bagels will be
provided. Upon arrival at the Grove, turn in your release/registration form at
the sign-in table so they know who is volunteering and pick up a nametag.
Anyone under 18 must have the form pre-signed by their parent or guardian unless
the parent or guardian is volunteering with them.
The required release forms can be downloaded from
http://www.aidsmemorial.org/volunteer/releases.html.
The Workday begins at 9:00 a.m. with a short introduction about the Grove and
some safety tips, and then the volunteers will be assigned to various projects
planned for that day. Typical workday projects include weeding, general pruning,
and planting, and a team leader supervises each group.
Work gloves and tools are provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves if
you wish. Dress comfortably in clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
There is a break at Noon for Circle Time when the groups come back together for
general announcements. This is followed by short ritual to remember and
celebrate the lives of those lost to AIDS.
Once Circle Time concludes (about 12:20 p.m.), lunch is provided. Several area
merchants donate much of the meal that typically includes chicken, salads, fresh
fruit, and cookies. Water and soda is provided throughout the day.
After lunch we gather tools and debris and generally clean up from the projects
we began in the morning.
The Workday concludes around 2:00 p.m. People may come and go as they please,
but please try to arrive by 9:00 a.m. so you can be assigned to a group.
Workdays are a wonderful way to spend some time outdoors, meet some great
people, and help preserve and maintain this important national memorial. Many
people who volunteer do so as a way of dealing with their own grief over a
personal loss and find that working in the Grove is an important part of their
healing process.
The Grove is located at the corner of Middle Drive East and Bowling Green Drive
(map - http://www.aidsmemorial.org/map.html ) in Golden Gate Park, right across
the street from Sharon Meadow and the tennis courts.
