A Gourmet Event at Diamond Mountain Vineyards

Late summer is a beautiful time to visit Napa Valley and we have arranged for a wonderful event for wine lovers and gourmets, a visit to the Diamond Mountain Vineyard as the guests of Fred Constant '64.

Diamond Mountain Vineyard is perched 1,400 feet above Calistoga with commanding views of the northern Napa Valley. The vineyard and some of the buildings on the property date back to the 1890's. Fred has added an architecturally stunning house and winery which includes an infinity pool and a bocce ball court on the top of the winery.

The event will include a gourmet lunch and winetasting featuring select vintages of Fred's cabernet sauvignon. In addition, you will have the opportunity to play a few rounds of bocce and swim in the infinity pool, and Fred will lead tours of the vineyard, winery and surrounding property.

The event will begin at 10:30 at a winery to be determined on the Napa Valley floor. After a tasting to whet our palates, we will consolidate cars and head to Diamond Mountain Winery. We will stay at the winery until 3:30 or so in the afternoon.

Picnic and Performance 9/17 7-10:30 Orinda, CA Suzy Tompkins '96
All's Well that Ends Well by William Shakespeare

Join alumni for a picnic and performance among hills and trees on beautiful protected watershed grounds. CalShakes Theater is just off HWY 24 by the Caldecott Tunnell.

All's Well that Ends Well features a strong woman heroine of depth and inner beauty who uses her talents to achieve her desires. Some say she's a beautiful, soulful woman. Others think that she employs objectionable practices to "get her man." And is the man even worth getting? Come see for yourself and then engage in a spirited discussion as we compare the very different heroines of All's Well (Helena) and The Taming of the Shrew (Katherine).

Bronwyn Eisenberg '80 is the Resident Dramaturg at Cal Shakes and she will join us before the show for a personalized introduction to CalShakes and the play. Please arrive between 6:30 and 7:00 to lay out your picnic on the picnic tables Bronwyn has reserved – you can bring picnic goodies with you or buy entrees, wine, and dessert at the theater. Bronwyn will present her introduction at 7:15, and the play begins at 8:00. Spouses and families are welcome, but please RSVP well in advance to reserve your tickets.

Please visit www.calshakes.org for directions. Parking is free.
There is a free shuttle from the Orinda BART station

RSVP to suzytompkins@yahoo.com as soon as possible to make sure we reserve enough picnic tables and tickets. Once you RSVP, I will coordinate with you to arrange for payment for your ticket. If you have questions about the performance, visit www.calshakes.org, or call the call the theater box office at 510-548-9666.
