Palo Alto Pub Night -- First Friday of the Month 10/1 7-9 Palo Alto Whitney Colella
Catch up with fellow Tigers in Nola's lounge, all Princeton fans welcome.

Hey there mighty Tigers,

Please join us for Palo Alto Pub Nights, the First Friday of each Month. We're imbibing merrily Friday Oct. 1st at Nola’s, off of University Ave. We'll be grabbing some drinks in Nola’s comfy lounge, catching up with friends, and meeting new ones. Please feel welcome to bring family, friends, and Princeton fans, from 7 to 9. Looking forward to seeing you there too!

When: Friday, Oct. 1st , 7-9pm
Where: Nola, 535 Ramona St.
Who: Please look for some enthusiastic people wearing a bit of orange and black.

Nola Info:
"Nola is a bit of New Orleans located in the historic Ramona Street Building in downtown Palo Alto. Our menu consists of Creole, Cajun, and Southwestern cuisine. New Orleans favorites, such as hurricanes, fresh oysters, gumbo, seafood jambalaya, and étouffée, are just a few of the classics you will find.

The party stretches out over three floors, with seven different funky dining areas. Nola has one of the largest collections of Southern folk art on the West Coast. From the dark side of the French Quarters come some of the hippest local "outsider" artists, such as Marc "Baby" Bercier, Big Al "The Shoe Shine" Tamplet, and A.J. Lastat Boudreaux. Other Southern greats, such as Frank "Preacher" Boyle and Robert Harris, capture that wild, funky life of the South. Lots of food, booze, and blues! Come check out what Fortune magazine voted as "the hottest bar in the Silicon Valley."

Welcome to the party-- grab a Hurricane, a group of friends, wrap yourself in our mardi gras beads and “Laisser les Bon Temps Rouler!!” " From http://www.nolas.com/

Professor James McPherson to Speak at Cal State - Chico 10/14 7-8 Chico Robert Tinkler '84
Lecture: The Global Impact of the American Civil War

On October 14th, Princeton history professor James McPherson will be presenting a lecture at Califoria State University - Chico entitled "The Global Impact of the American Civil War". The event will take place at Laxson Auditorium on Chico's campus and a reception will follow in Trinity Hall (also on campus). Both events are free and open to the public. If you are in the area, come on over!

Chico is located about 90 miles north of Sacramento on CA Highway 99. From Sacramento area, head north. Once in Chico, take the "East First Avenue" exit (also signs say "California State University, Chico"), turn left at end of exit ramp. Proceed on East First Avenue to the Esplanade. Turn left onto the Esplanade, pass Bidwell Mansion State Historic Site, and look for on-street parking (no cars allowed on campus). There are a few city lots in the surrounding blocks. The University entrance is at First Avenue and Salem Street.

From the Bay Area, take I-5 north toward Redding. Exit at Orland and take CA Highway 32 to Chico (about 20 miles on a two-lane road). Once within Chico's city limits, proceed on 32 (which is also known as Nord Avenue). Turn left onto 2nd Avenue, which takes you right by campus. Park in a city lot or on street (no charge after 6 pm).

Laxson Auditorium is just inside the university entrance on right. Trinity Hall, site of the post-lecture reception, is about 80 yards away from Laxson, and is recognizable by its bell tower.
