| Committee Meeting
Please join us in
identifying and recognizing high school students who have done notable work in
advancing the cause of race relations. Thanks to everyone for their work in this
effort.
Our meeting will be focused on the execution of October outreach, i.e. who will
cover the various Oakland public schools that we want to personally contact.
Materials will be provided.
Assitance is also needed with publicity. If someone can write a press release or
has publicity or media resources that we can utilize, please contact Anna
Cabrera '92 at annamcabrera@yahoo.com.
At this time, we are also looking for a venue and Princeton Alum presenter for
the awards ceremony in Spring '06. We will announce the winner March 31, 2006,
and can plan the ceremony around the speaker's schedule. Please contact Rosio
Bugarin '93 at rosiobugarin@yahoo.com if you can assist.

| A cruise in beautiful San Francisco Bay with Blue Angels
Flyover
The Princeton Club of
Northern California would like to invite you to its Fleet Week Cruise aboard the
Monte Carlo Hornblower yacht!
Back by popular demand, this three-hour cruise will take alumni out into the San
Francisco bay for a magnificent view of the city skyline, Golden Gate Bridge,
Bay Bridge and Alcatraz. Of course, there is also the main event - an air show
by the U.S Navy's world famous Blue Angels. There is no better vantage point for
observing the daring maneuvers of the Blue Angels than the deck of a yacht
positioned in the middle of the sparkling bay! You will be right in the middle
of the action. There will be a no-host bar available and light hors d'oeuvres
will be served (it is recommended that you have lunch beforehand if you need a
full meal). The upper deck will be reserved for the Princeton Club.
The yacht will begin boarding at 1:45pm at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero in San
Francisco and will depart promptly at 2pm. The yacht will return and dock at
5pm.
All Princeton alumni are welcome at this event, but as a special thank you to
our members, member ticket prices have been partially subsidized by the Club.
The cost per ticket is $50 each for each member, for each member guest (limited
to one guest) and for each family member of a Club member(additional non-family
guests are $70 each). For non-Princeton Club members, the cost is $70 for each
non-member alumnus and for each guest of a non-member alumnus. Children under 3
are free. Space is very limited so please RSVP as soon as possble. RSVP deadline
is Monday, September 26th. RSVP details are below.
For more information on our yacht, you may visit:

| Find out more about bay area composer John Adams's new opera
from an opera expert In
October of this year, San Francisco Opera will proudly premiere
a new opera written by perhaps the greatest living composer, Bay
Area resident John Adams. Originally concieved to be a modern-day
setting of the Faust legend, the piece morphed and changed and became
much more. Mr. Adams worked with librettist Peter Sellars (famous
for settings of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro in Manhattan's Trump
Tower) to capture this fascinating and terrifying period of the
twentieth century in the only art form that could possibly contain
it. Sellars crafted the text of the opera from primary souces --
it is taken almost entirely from letters and transcripts. Excitement
is building throughout the opera world with dignitaries flying in
from all corners of the globe for this very special premiere.
Our own Thomas Cunningham *99 will share with us his insights and
observations about the opera. If you are interested in attendint
the premiere, make sure you get your tickets to the opera early
-- it will certainly sell out.
http://sfopera.com/operaspotlight.asp?operaseasonid=233
Tom wrote his dissertation at Princeton on Images of Ivan the Terrible
in Russian opera. For the past year, he has served as Education
Co-Chair for San Francisco Opera's BRAVO! CLUB and has given lectures
about numerous operas. Additionally, he has served on the Board
of Directors for the Golden Gate Opera. No one gets more excited
about opera than Tom does, and his enthusiasm is contagious.
Please join us for this special lunchtime presentation.

in 1895 in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the de Young Museum
has been an integral part of the cultural fabric of the city and
a cherished destination for millions of residents and visitors to
the region for over 100 years. On October 15, 2005, the de Young
Museum will re-open in a state-of-the-art new facility that integrates
art, architecture and the natural landscape. Designed by the renowned
Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and Fong & Chan Architects
in San Francisco, the new de Young will provide San Francisco with
a landmark art museum to showcase the museum’s priceless collections
of American art from the 17th through the 20th centuries, and art
of the native Americas, Africa, and the Pacific.
The tour should last about 45 minutes, after which people are free
