A cruise in beautiful San Francisco Bay with Blue Angels Flyover

The Princeton Club of Northern California would like to invite you to its Fleet Week Cruise aboard the Monte Carlo Hornblower yacht!

Back by popular demand, this three-hour cruise will take alumni out into the San Francisco bay for a magnificent view of the city skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge and Alcatraz. Of course, there is also the main event - an air show by the U.S Navy's world famous Blue Angels. There is no better vantage point for observing the daring maneuvers of the Blue Angels than the deck of a yacht positioned in the middle of the sparkling bay! You will be right in the middle of the action. There will be a no-host bar available and light hors d'oeuvres will be served (it is recommended that you have lunch beforehand if you need a full meal). The upper deck will be reserved for the Princeton Club.

The yacht will begin boarding at 1:45pm at Pier 33 on the Embarcadero in San Francisco and will depart promptly at 2pm. The yacht will return and dock at 5pm.

San Francisco Luncheon: San Francisco Opera's World Premiere of Dr. Atomic 10/10 12-1:15 SF Michael Long '02
Find out more about bay area composer John Adams's new opera from an opera expert

In October of this year, San Francisco Opera will proudly premiere a new opera written by perhaps the greatest living composer, Bay Area resident John Adams. Originally concieved to be a modern-day setting of the Faust legend, the piece morphed and changed and became much more. Mr. Adams worked with librettist Peter Sellars (famous for settings of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro in Manhattan's Trump Tower) to capture this fascinating and terrifying period of the twentieth century in the only art form that could possibly contain it. Sellars crafted the text of the opera from primary souces -- it is taken almost entirely from letters and transcripts. Excitement is building throughout the opera world with dignitaries flying in from all corners of the globe for this very special premiere.

Our own Thomas Cunningham *99 will share with us his insights and observations about the opera. If you are interested in attendint the premiere, make sure you get your tickets to the opera early -- it will certainly sell out.

http://sfopera.com/operaspotlight.asp?operaseasonid=233

Tom wrote his dissertation at Princeton on Images of Ivan the Terrible in Russian opera. For the past year, he has served as Education Co-Chair for San Francisco Opera's BRAVO! CLUB and has given lectures about numerous operas. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors for the Golden Gate Opera. No one gets more excited about opera than Tom does, and his enthusiasm is contagious.
