To celebrate its 75th Anniversary, the Woodrow Wilson School will be coming to San Francisco to host a day of lectures, learning and festivities.

This event will include panel discussions on Stem Cell Research and Women’s Empowerment in Fundamentalist Societies.

Panelists will include:

Harold Shapiro - Past-President of Princeton and currently head of New Jersey’s stem cell research ethics panel.

Irving Weisssman, M.D. – Professor of Pathology and Developmental Biology, Stanford University.

Lee Silver – Professor of Molecular Biology and Public Affairs, Princeton University.

Paul Krugman – Professor of Economics and International Affairs, Princeton University and columnist for the NYTimes.

Kavita Ramdas – Woodrow Wilson School MPA ‘ 88, President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women in San Francisco.

A reception will follow the panel discussions.

Join Dan Sullivan '63 and Suzy Tomkins '96 for a late-winter weekend at a rustic mountain lodge a few miles from I-80 near the top of Donner Pass. The area receives the highest average snowfall of the entire Sierra Nevada range, making it an ideal location for snow sports. The Sierra Club's Clair Tappaan Lodge provides a friendly, casual, and affordable base for a variety of outings. Cross-country ski trails start at the back door of the lodge, and downhill resorts are close by. Weekend rates are $110 per person for Friday and Saturday nights, including a hearty dinner and breakfast, plus provisions for a brown bag lunch. (Guests also help with a daily chore.) Cross-country ski rentals and lessons are available.

You have three choices for accommodations. To reserve a space in a room with a small group of other PCNC members, contact Dan Sullivan. To reserve a separate two-person cubicle or a bed in the men's or women's dorm, go to the Lodge Web site to make your reservation. You may also contact the Lodge directly at 800-679-6775. Don't wait -- the Lodge usually fills up on winter weekends.

If you make your reservation directly with the Lodge, please let Dan or Suzy know that you are coming. We will distribute the signup list about two weeks in advance, so that participants can arrange carpools if they want.

Driving directions: From eastbound I-80 heading towards Reno, exit at Soda Springs/Norden and go 2.4 miles east on Donner Pass Road. The Lodge is not visible from the road, but there is a Lodge sign up the hill on the left, with a footpath leading about 75 yards uphill to the Lodge. The footpath is lit at night, but the sign is not. Use a small parking area at the base of the footpath to unload your gear. The main parking lot is on the far side of the road.
