| Honor Veterans' Day by preparing and serving meals to
residents of the Clara-Mateo Alliance
Looking for a way to
connect with fellow alumni, while giving back to the community? Join us for the
third annual PCNC cookout for the residents of the Clara-Mateo Alliance, a
not-for-profit group that provides shelter and supportive services to people in
need and assists them in finding stable housing and developing self sufficiency.
This is one of the highlights of the year for PCNC's Community Services efforts,
and we hope you'll join us.
In honor of Veterans' Day, we'll have a cookout, serve dinner and visit with the
residents, many of whom have served our country in the armed forces. The CMA
facilities are located at the VA Hospital in Menlo Park. (This is a
rain-or-shine event.)
PCNC will purchase the evening's meal and utensils. To learn more about the
event, contact Tom Giles by e-mail or phone.

| The gang from October will reassemble, to use the phrase
of Abraham Lincoln, to see what God has done through the instrument of the
American people.
What do the election
results tell us about what will happen next, both in substance and re the 2008
contests? Which fights will be fought, what ground lost, and what ground gained.
With malice towards none - and reverence for few - we will apply cool reason and
try to figure out where we're going collectively. Please join us for what has
become an intriguing and provocative series of PCNC events, attended by very
bright and articulate people from all over the Bay Area.
David Marshak is an authority on how humans create systems that work and how
they create systems which do not work. He is a retired Vice President and
Technology Manager at Bank of America and has a systems consulting business,

May and on Middle East Madness in August.

several years, he was involved in Middle East-related activities in both Europe
and the US, taking part in the Princeton Near East Faculty Seminar chaired by
Carl Brown.
