It's back to the Rose &

family welcome, of course, and the more orange you can wear, the better.

| Sunday matinee performance followed by sweets at a nearby
restaurant
Join Amy Buchen '03 and
Dan Sullivan '63 for the San Francisco Ballet's colorful and entertaining
performance of "Don Quixote." Afterwards we will head over to a nearby
restaurant for light snacks and conversation. This three-act ballet is staged by
the Ballet's Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson and Resident Choreographer Yuri
Possokhov, based on a 19th century Russian ballet by Marius Petipa to music by
Ludwig Minkus. The ballet is built around an episode in which the confused but
well-intentioned Don helps an innkeeper's daughter marry the young barber she
loves, foiling her father's plan to marry her to a foppish nobleman. It
culminates in a grand wedding celebration before the Don and Sancho Panza bid
farewell to continue on their adventures. For more information, visit the SF
Ballet website at www.sfballet.org.
Our Balcony Circle tickets are limited, so send in your reservation and check
(payable to PCNC) as soon as possible. Include your name, class year, and e-mail

Ann Sunhachawee '97 |
| Mother's Day stroll in a peninsula park with a local
alumna
Trained as an Edgewood
Natural Preserve tour docent, Ann Sunhachawee '97 has graciously invited
Princeton Club of Northern California members to join her on her scheduled walk
on Mother's Day 2007. Ann's tours are quite popular with locals and often
oversubscribed so make sure to plan ahead to join her.
If you cannot make Mother's Day, Ann will also be leading a tour on Tax Day
(Sunday, April 15) and other trained guides lead walks every weekend
throughout the spring season. For further information, please visit:
http://friendsofedgewood.org/docent_walks_2007.htm.
Edgewood's serpentine grasslands are renowned throughout California for their
lush wildflower carpets and rich biodiversity. You might see dozens of species
of flowers on a single walk! The free walk varies according to what is in bloom
and covers about 3 miles, at a moderate pace, with frequent stops.
Walks start from the Old Stage Day Camp. Please bring water, a hat, sturdy
shoes, sunscreen, and a snack if you wish. There is no stop for lunch, but
picnic tables are usually available after the walks in the Old Stage Day Camp
area, where restrooms and water are available.

John Jenkins '97 |
| Celebrate the 2007 winner of the San Francisco Bay Area
Princeton Prize In Race Relations
This year's winner for
the San Francisco Bay Area Princeton Prize in Race Relations is Aki Shibuya. She
is a founding member and President of the Diversity Club of Miramonte High
School in Orinda, CA. Initially created to directly address racially
intolerant and insensitive behavior demonstrated by a group of students during
an interscholastic sporting event, the Diversity Club quickly expanded its
message of promoting harmony, understanding and respect among people of
different races through the educational activities of a Diversity Week. Drawing
inspiration from a day of racial intolerance, the Diversity Club and Aki have
furthered their work with other student organizations to promote harmony and
understanding through a race relations awareness month and the "Take it Back"
campaign recording and reporting the rate of intolerant language demonstrated at
the school. This fall, Aki will be attending Grinnell College
in Iowa where she hopes to pursue a major in history and political science.
We will be honoring Aki and the rest of the certificate winners May 19, between
12 and 3 pm, in Preservation Park in Oakland. Our keynote speaker will be Judge
Henry Ramsey. Honorable Ramsey has served as a prosecutor, private
practitioner, law professor, judge, law-school dean, arbitrator, mediator, and
special master and as been active in Bay Area Civil Rights for over 40 years.
We are very lucky to have him speak at this year's ceremony.
Everyone who is interested is welcome to attend. Hope to see you next
month.

| Princeton Professor Felton Shares His Thoughts on Digital
Technology Policy
Please plan to join
University technology policy spokesperson Professor Felten, who will share his
thoughts on the transformative power of digital technology with Silicon Valley
Princetonians, after a social networking hour in Palo Alto.
The transition to digital technologies, which began with the compact disc and
the Internet, and continues with TiVo and the iPod, is rearranging the culture
and business of music, movies, visual arts, and news. Princeton Professor
Felten will explain why digital technology is transformative, and how its
arrival has kicked off a broad political, technical, and legal struggle to
control the future of the technologies that bring us media, art, and culture.
This talk is aimed at a general audience and assumes no technical background.
Schedule:
6pm Networking Hour: light appetizers and beverages served.
7pm Lecture by Professor Felton
7:45pm Question & Answer session
Edward W. Felten is a Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, and
is affiliated with the Program in Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy,
at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton.
His research interests include computer security and privacy, especially
relating to consumer products, and technology law and policy. His weblog, at
freedom-to-tinker.com, is widely read for its commentary on technology, law, and
policy.
In 2003, Scientific American magazine named him to its list of fifty
international leaders in science and technology. He has testified as an expert
witness in several important lawsuits, for example as the lead technical expert
witness for the Department of Justice in the Microsoft antitrust case. He has
published more than seventy papers in the research literature, and two books.
He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington in
1993.
