Start off August right
with pub night at the BBC. If it's scorching, we'll be inside; if it's
pleasant, we'll be outside on the patio. In either case, look for at least one
person (me) wearing a ridiculously orange shirt. :-) See you there!

| An afternoon walking tour over San Francisco's Nob Hill
and Russian Hill
Discover some of San
Francisco's special charm on an afternoon walk up and down through two of San
Francisco's hilly neighborhoods. Starting at the Gap store by the cable car
turnaround at the Powell Street BART station, we will climb up Nob Hill to Grace
Cathedral at the crest of the hill, with its stunning bronze doors and its
indoor and outdoor labyrinths. After another pause to see the machinery that
operates the cable cars, we will move on to explore the parks and garden
stairways of Russian Hill, including Macondray Lane (the setting for Armistead
Maupin's "Tales of the City"), the curvy block of Lombard Street, and an
extraordinary Diego Rivera mural in the San Francisco Art Institute. We will
finish at Aquatic Park and the historic ships docked at the Hyde Street Pier. We
can return to Powell Street via the cable car ($5) or SF Muni bus ($1.50).
Princeton friends and children are welcome.
RSVP is helpful, but not required.

| Watch Major League Lacrosse in SF
Did you know that you
don't have to fly to New Jersey or Maryland to find high quality lacrosse? It
is right in our backyard!
Sit with other Princeton lacrosse fans in the stands at Kezar Stadium near
Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to cheer our our local Major League Lacrosse
(MLL) team, the San Francisco Dragons, as they battle their regional rival the
Denver Outlaws on Saturday, August 11th in a 1pm game.
As this is the final home game of the season, the Dragons are hosting an 'Alumni
Day' and will run a full-day of fun inclusive of:
* Pre-game BBQ and drinks in our Dragons Bud Light Beer Garden
* An opportunity to meet SF Dragons lacrosse players and Denver Outlaws players
Trevor Tierney '01 and Josh Sims '00 after the game
* An announcement of PCNC to the thousands of fans over the PA system during the
game
* Discounted tickets available exclusively to PCNC members
The San Francisco Dragons were a new expansion team last season in Major League
Lacrosse (MLL) and one of four teams to make the MLL Playoffs in 2006. Ryan
Powell of the Dragons won League MVP and Offensive MVP awards for 2006, capping
off a very successful inaugural season. The Dragons are maintaining this high
standard of play in 2007, and undoubtedly, have their sights set on an MLL
Championship!
Directions to the Stadium for both public transportation and cars are online:
http://www.sanfranciscodragons.com/info/Directions/.
Those who have RSVP'ed by August 6th will be able to pick up their tickets
designated for the PCNC section on game day at will call. Food and drinks at
the pre-game BBQ that opens at 11:15am will be purchased by fans on their own.

| Alumna Shares Philosophy of 'Sport of
Motherhood'
Silicon Valley mother of
four Genevieve Hutcheson Butcher '89 has run many marathons, but the rewards
have been more tangible than just crossing the finish line. She has spun her
experiences into a philosophy and methodology called "The Sport of Motherhood."
Join her as she introduces the topic to a cozy group of local alumnae in Palo
Alto. Discussion of the topic and the participants' experiences will be
accompanied by dinner and beverages.
To reach her target audience of busy moms, Butcher '89 has introduced her Sport
of Motherhood program in multiple formats: as a TV talk show, a book, a
website, special-topics classes, an email newsletter, boot camps, and even an
online help column.
As her book overview highlights, the Sport of Motherhood is not about being a
supermom. It's about discovering your goals and learning to pace yourself so
that you will get where you want to go. It's about learning to run *your* race.
Her book "The Sport of Motherhood: Training Tips for a Full & Balanced Life"
will be available for purchase at the event. Butcher '89 graduated with a B.A.
in Art and Archeology from Princeton and received Masters Degrees in Secondary
Education and English LIterature from Penn.
"Food for Thought" is a quarterly Princeton Women's Network event that provides
an opportunity for alumnae to engage in focused discussion on a wide variety of
topics.
When RSVPs are final, the hostess will coordinate potluck plans with the
attendees. If necessary, attendance will be limited by the space
available.

| High tech Entrepreneurship at Princeton and
Beyond
Dr. Ed Zschau, who
teaches the immensely popular high tech entrepreneurship course at Princeton,
will talk about the many entrepreneurship activities on campus. He will also
describe the paths that Princeton students who have been bitten by the
entrepreneurial bug are taking after graduation. Ed Zschau '61 has been a
successful Silicon Valley entrepreneur, venture capitalist, member of the US
House of Representatives, and professor at Stanford, Harvard, and Princeton. He
continues to start technology companies...two of which are being run today by
his former Princeton students.
Please rsvp by email and note if you require a vegetarian lunch. Please cancel
